The Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care Annual Nursing Recognition Day, co-sponsored by Research, Quality and Outcomes Management and Nursing Education, was held this year on September 16-17, 2008. A total of 1,350 nursing staff were nominated for their contributions to practice, quality management, patient education, staff education and research; these staff received certificates of recognition and a small gift as a token of the Department’s appreciation. In addition, 57 posters were on display in the 8th floor Solarium during the 29- hour celebration. Awards were given for the top-rated poster in each category as well as a people’s choice category. Category winners were:

Content Awards

• EBP – Incontinence-Associated Dermatitis: A protocol for prevention and treatment (Marge Jensen, Nurse Clinician Specialist – MSS)
• Education/Informational – Spinal Cord Injury: A Guide for Patients (Karen Stenger, APN; Michele Wagner, APN; and Jan Stewart, Specialty Nurse Clinician – ISS/SNU and Spine Clinic)
