The Nursing Clinical Education Center is a joint endeavor of the Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care and the University of Iowa College of Nursing. The Department of Nursing Services component is comprised of two units:
Staff Development and Continuing Education
The Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care provides a centralized, systematic resource to prepare Department of Nursing staff for the responsibilities of their positions, assure safe and effective nursing care is delivered by staff to UIHC patients, enhance clinical staff development, provide clinical experiences for collegiate nursing students, enhance the relationship between the Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care and the UI College of Nursing and other colleges of nursing.
We provide opportunities for employed nursing staff to acquire knowledge and skills, which are beyond those of basic education and are necessary for safe performance of and effective outcomes from assigned functions. The ultimate goal is provision of safe and quality services for UI Hospitals and Clinics patients, their families, and affiliated agencies.
