Neurology: Excellence in Patient Care, Education, and Research
The Department of Neurology at UI Hospitals and Clinics is one of the three oldest neurology programs in the country, and its residency program was one of the
first to be established in 1919. A broad spectrum of neurology is covered by subspecialty units in headache and pain management, neuromuscular diseases,
movement disorders, stroke, dementia, epilepsy, sleep, neuro-genetics, neuro-ergonomics, neuro-psychology, neuro-ophthalmology, and neurorehabilitation.
In addition, the department conducts research concerning diseases and physiology of the nervous system, including many ongoing clinical trials.
