Salivary glands are found in and around the mouth and throat. There are major salivary glands called the parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands. There are also many tiny glands called minor salivary glands that are located in the lips, inner cheek area and the lining of the mouth and throat.

Salivary glands produce the saliva used to moisten the mouth, start the digestive process and protect the teeth from tooth decay.
