Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. The colon and rectum makes up the last seven feet of the intestine. Fortunately, colorectal cancer, when found early is very treatable and highly curable. Colorectal cancer is a disease that is primarily treated with surgery–almost 50% of patients can be cured with surgery alone.

When colorectal cancer has spread to lymph nodes and nearby tissue the chance of cure goes down. It will then need additional treatment with chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy.
