Kenneth P. Kates, MBA, was named Associate Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of UI Hospitals and Clinics in July 2008. He provides leadership in budgeting, administration, and planning for all aspects of UI Hospitals and Clinics and serves on the senior leadership team of University of Iowa Health Care.
Kates graduated from Philadelphia University, Philadelphis with a bachelor of science degree in business administration/marketing and an MBA in health administration from Temple University Graduate School of Business, Philadelphia.
Before joining UI Hospitals and Clinics, Kates was a consultant with Alvarez and Marsal, Chicago. He has more than 30 years of experience in academic health care, including the University of Chicago Hospitals and Health System, where he served as vice president and director of the University of Chicago Children's Hospital and most recently as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He also held positions at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
