Top marks for quality

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics continues to receive high marks for quality patient care. In February 2007, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UI Children's Hospital was designated a Center of Excellence by the United Resource Network, a business of United Health Group. The designation recognizes such factors as numbers of procedures performed and associated positive outcomes, along with technological advances. In September 2006, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa named UI Hospitals and Clinics a "Blue Distinction Center" in two key areas: Cardiac Care and Bariatric (weight loss) Surgery. Driven by quality, collaboration, and affordability, Blue Distinction identifies specialty centers that offer the best practices and standards of care.
